My friend teaches guitar and he really believes he’s very good at teaching people how to play guitar.  One day I asked him if I could learn how to play the guitar overnight.  He laughed and laughed and told me I was like saying I could learn to paint a great picture overnight.

No, you CAN NOT learn to play the guitar overnight – that’s IMPOSSIBLE.

However, you could learn to play a guitar scale overnight, some guitar chords or perhaps even a few rhythms, but that’s about it.

Don’t get me wrong. There are always shortcuts to playing guitar, but you will still need to make time to practice and work at it on regular basis. Like my friend said, your hands will need time to get used to the strange new shapes you are forcing them into. Your brain can only take so many new things at one time. If you’ve never been taught on how to read guitar notes and playing guitar, it will take a while just to figure out the names of the keys.

What I’m trying to say is be realistic. If a guitar method guarantees overnight success, I want to bet at first it will take you all day and all night just to READ their advice and then they will most likely teach you about guitar chords, rhythms, patterns and so on.

However, if you could find the real McCoy and ended up getting a guitar job at a famous band the very next day after you took that guitar methods from scratch, let me know.  I’d LOVE to find out how I could also teach myself playing guitar and know there are easy guitar lessons out there.

For those of you who don’t believe learning guitar overnight and would like to teach yourself guitar, I think you will find video guitar lessons like Guitar Super Stars a real deal!
